Today was officially Preston’s first day back to work. The
kids and I got to hang out in the room. I put them to work with all the school
books I brought with me. They have had enough of the summer off. Lol
On our
hotel room TV we get exactly 2 English channels, still with Japanese subtitles,
but who cares. One of the channels is a movie channel. I got to watch cool runnings,
miracle on 34th street, and Candy man. A nice variety I do say! Although
Candy man kept me up very late. I didn’t think it was going to be scary since I
was 10 the last time I watched it. Yep, still creepy! As I was finally getting
to sleep around 1 am it happened. Our first earthquake! I thought I was going
crazy and the bed really wasn’t shaking, but luckily I can count on all the
wives on FB still awake to confirm that it was in fact an earthquake. Turns out
it was actually two: a 2.9 and 3.7. So not very big, but I hope they all stay
that way. At least we got the news today that the typhoon took a turn and will
miss Okinawa by 300 miles.
Fun Fact:
 |
| These drink machines are EVERY where...really everywhere! You can be driving out in the middle of nowhere or be on a back road and one of these machine will randomly be on the side of the road. They carry both hot and cold drink from coffee, milk, tea to soda and water. |
 |
| The machine will also talk to you in Japanese- A simple thank you and goodbye, but that is my favorite part. My favorite drink is Apple Tea...yummy! |

Today we went to the world’s 2nd largest
aquarium. It was a bit of a drive, close to 2 hours north of us, but so worth it. I am very
excited that we got season passes and can go back whenever we want. There were some many fish that I have never seen before and some that I have not seen as large as they were here. The aquarium also had a fun scavenger hunt where you locate different fact cards about all the marine life in the aquarium. The kids enjoyed finding all 10!
Even though
Typhoon Soulder isn’t going to hit us, it’s so big we are still being affected
by it. The wind has picked up a lot and the water is very choppy. I can only
imagine what it would be like if it was any closer, actually that is a scary
thought.
We also found the Blue Seal Preston has been searching for. I have not
mentioned this search but we have been to about 5 Blue Seals already looking
for the one that makes crepes. I guess each one specializes in a different
dessert. Well, we found the crepe one and Preston got not one, but two and I
don’t think that will hold him over for very long. We will be back, soon.
