Typhoon Goni is here!

8-24-15

Typhoon Goni Day! When we got up it was already TCCOR 1. Boy was it windy (the typhoon built up to a category 4 overnight). They called for 30ft waves, but I am thinking that will be on the West side of the island. The water is definitely choppy here on the East side, but not near 30ft. I do want to see some good waves! The water is usually calm and never any white peaks so you can tell the weather is getting worse. However, there are still locals driving around, this is probably nothing to them. We pulled out more craft supplies, I organized all my newspaper clippings I have been collecting for my scrapbook, finished a few word searches, played iPads and even skyped a bit. Overall a productive day. I finally thought of switching out my lens on the camera to a bigger one. I got a little picture happy since I was able to take some really cool wave shots. I even went outside on the balcony to take a few. The wind gusts were really intense and definitely scared me! After studying some origami the worst part of the storm hit. This lasted about 2 hours. The windows sounded like they were about to shatter and you couldn’t even see through them due to the amount of rain coming down. Not so much fun during that time, but then it was gone-like it never happened. We went outside to a gorgeous purple sky and didn’t see any visible damage. I have now survived my first typhoon!

Still no sign that a typhoon was here-that’s a good thing! Today we received our household goods shipment. It was in fact NOT the express shipment, but at least we have something now. This should keep me busy for a day or two. The kids were so excited and had all the movers laughing when they carried in our TV. Preston’s first task when he gets home is to set up our Wii. Bring on the Jurassic Park game!

8-26-15 through 8-28-15

I have unloaded ALL the boxes. Happy to be done, but at the same time I wish we were able to bring more. It didn’t take me very long to unpack and find homes for everything. And this was our “big” shipment.
