The Beach

8-29-15

We planned to go to the beach today, but realized we have none of our beach supplies yet. So the day turned into another shopping day. My boys just love that! I’m not sure how many more I will get out of them either, I may be on my own after this.

Makayla got a mask, swimming vest, and water shoes. McKinley got a swimming vest which has a shark fin on the back. She is very excited about this. Kayden got sand toys. Lol He says he will NOT be going in the water. He is my child for sure! I think once we go and check it out we BOTH will be more comfortable. Hopefully…

We tried a new restaurant called Obligato – a ‘Mexican’ restaurant. It was okay, but definitely not what we are used to back in the states. The kids still ordered white rice. We will be cooking our own Mexican food from now on.

Early wakeup call from Preston- its BEACH day for Sunday Fun day. He has been dying to get in the water. First we went to a beach that we drive by every day to get to base. There are always locals there which made us think it was a good spot. It was okay. The water was warm, but a little bit murky (for Okinawa). There was also a lot of trash on the beach. I was amazed by all the shells that covered the sand. Even the sand seemed to be made of tiny shells. The shells from small to large and everything in between. Our shell bucket was quickly filled. Also, these were types of shells I have never found on a beach before. I have only seen them in stores for sale. Like the pukka shell. I can make my own necklace we found so many!

It took Makayla a little bit before she finally got into the water. She didn’t like wearing her mask either. Preston was able to take her out towards the end which made her more comfortable. McKinley went right out with Preston. She was able to see a few fish swimming around them too. Now if you ask her about this, she will tell you she caught one. Lol She loves her life vest and enjoys putting me on edge by singing “dun dun, dun dun, dun dun” while she is wearing it. That child had NO fear!

After about an hour we decided to pack up and find a new beach. We found a hidden gem! This beach had two little coves back to back that were perfect for the kids. The water was crystal clear and the sand still covered in shells. I even got in the water! The water was so inviting, soon Kayden and I were swimming together. The kids even caught two shrimps.

  1. I LOVE McKinley's new life vest....do they have one in my size? And it's pink. The beach sounds awesome... the second one. Wish I was there too!
