School Starts

8-31-15

Today was Makayla’s first day of 2nd grade. I couldn’t sleep at all last night thinking I was going to over sleep. Preston was able to meet us at the school so we ALL got to walk her to class. Even her teacher commented on the entire family being there. She has Ms. Martin and I already know she is a good fit for Makayla. This is going to be a great year. Kayden also had his kindergarten orientation today.

We dropped McKinley off at Preston’s work. She had a special lunch date with him while Kayden and I went to meet his teacher for orientation. We made sure to get to school early enough to catch Makayla at lunch. She was very excited to see us waiting for her in the cafeteria.

Kayden has Mrs. Hayden as his teacher. That should be easy to remember! I think she will be a great teacher for Kayden too. I am so happy the kids have the opportunity to be in a DODDEA school. This is an amazing program with the best teachers. The only downside is it takes about 25min to get to their school. I will have to start exploring some back roads in hopes of finding a short cut.

She already made a new friend

I slept good last night and got off to a great start for the second day of school. Kayden was a bit upset he didn’t get to go to class today, but he only has one more week until he starts. Since today is the first that means I get to drive around and pay all the bills. Here we have to physically go to each service and pay in YEN. My stops today include paying rent, internet, car and furniture. Ugh what a day! This took the entire day, up until we had to pick up Makayla from school. I am lucky Kayden and McKinley hung in there for me. I did find a place to finally get my eyebrows waxed, thank goodness! So I did squeeze in one extra stop. Actually while we were walking up to the salon (that is located in the px) I almost walked McKinley and I right into a giant banana spider! I couldn’t figure out why she and Kayden had stopped walking. I kept pulling on her arm to move forward until Kayden yelled for me to stop and I finally looked ahead. Yeah, I was hoping to never see one of those things, but better than a Habu snake I guess. Luckily a nice gentleman came to our rescue and squished it before it could make a new home in our van…because I know that was where it was heading!

The banana spider. yuck

Took the kiddos and spent the day at the mall. Checked out a few new stores, tried some Okinawan donuts, and played at the arcade area for a bit. We stopped by a camera store since I seem to have misplaced my camera charger. If you can already guess, having no camera battery is like the end of the world to me. The employee was extremely patient with me as I was trying to explain what I needed. I left thinking it was the right charger, but my battery didn’t fit once we got home. Now I have to figure out how to do a return and hopefully find the right one somehow.

9-3-15

Today was Kayden’s Kinder assessment. McKinley had her second special lunch date with Preston while we went to school to complete this. Needless to say he tested off the charts!

Makayla is loving 2nd grade!

9-4-15

Back to school for a teacher meeting with Makayla’s teacher. Do they think I don’t do anything during the day? No special lunch dates today.
